I was casually shopping in Goodwill one night with my family not looking for anything in particular and then I turned the corner and did a double take. I saw this table and it was calling my name!

The arched bars, the wood top, I was in love! I knew I could do something great with this. I showed me husband and man, did his face do some god awful expressions! Obviously he didn’t see what I saw and he kinda doubted what I could do with it. All he could see was this scratched up, dog chewed mess, but I wasn’t having it!

Now I was on a mission to show him what I saw. I started painting. Hated it! I started repainting. Still hated it! I was starting to feel defeated.

I think I redid this damn table about five times before I got this end result. Just look at all of these tries!

The Final Product

Finally, I am satisfied. After painting this table white more than once I have settled. My final process involved painting the entire thing white. Since the top was wood with angles put together, I had to do sections at a time when applying the stain over the white. I wanted the direction of the strokes to follow the grain of the wood. Once the stain was dry, I then took a piece of 400 grit sandpaper gently through each section, again going with the grain to mimic real wood.

The bottom pieces are all a combo of a black and blue to make a deep navy blue. Everything was then sealed with a matte poly.

Whew! That was hell! But here she is! I am in love again!
